Your intent is right however it seems to me the best method to begin saving is through an investment account where the young person learns the value of compounded interest. Keep part of the allowance for spending money and invest the rest faithfully and gradually each month each year and keep building on that.

Sry but that make no sense if a kid buy real estate for 300 dollar and this piece would pay you 30 dollar a month that would be 10% per month lol. Maybe you mean per year but 10% pwr year is very much per year for real estate.
