Ive seen many people fail in coffee and its always because they dont know anything about it to start but they drink it so they think they do.
Its like thinking you know real estate because you rent a house.

    • @GrahamStephan says:

You’re right. In hindsight, the only way to do this in 2025 is to make a very premium coffee and sell it at an absurdly high price.

    • @davidjohnston4240 says:

@@GrahamStephanI buy spendy beans. But they have the roast date on the bag and they make good espresso. No store bag comes close.

    • @littlejackalo5326 says:

@davidjohnston42 Afriend if mine (one of the ranchers next to me) owns a coffee farm in Columbia, and he brings me back a couple bags when he goes down for 2 weeks 2×/yr. His farm is completely vertically integrated. So he sells roasted coffee in 12 or 16 oz bags. You literally cannot get coffee more fresh that that. He pulls coffee straigout of roasting. CBP sticks a needle into each bag to run it through their GCMS machine to check for drugs. Even the stuff you buy from hipster coffee shops who roast their own, are stop using green beans that are at least a month old.

  • @drdozer says:

Accessories is where it’s at! If they are in your store either physically or digitally they are more likely to buy your metal straw or your cup or your strainer. It’s so much easier to get everything in one place.

  • @WilliamDaGreatYT says:

Graham get some rest man you look a bit rough, mean this in the most respectful way.

  • @adamfroman7983 says:

Sell the coffee with your face on it. They are buying also off your brand. It is not about cost. When people see your coffee on the counter it also advertises your brand again. Branded stuff is always sold at a higher cost than competitors that are unknown..That is the power of brand. You have your brand. I say go back after that coffee.

  • @KevinCurrantly says:

Such a good dude for an influencer. I’m 13 years your senior, a business owner with both an exit and acquisition completed, and I’m tuning in and learning tons. Good 💩

  • @mikebowman6454 says:

I like the fact that because Graham preaches keeping coffee cheap he would rather close up shop than sell expensive coffee. Maybe not the best decision from a business standpoint but I have to give mad respect for standing by what you say and not selling out

    • @Ekkoo1117 says:

its ok he sold out to all the credit card company’s years ago already.

    • @MCIMGMT says:

Gram banks on this. He thinks very lineraly but not big. Hes a safe business man manipulative but safe. If he thought bigger he woukd be richer butbhed have more ups and downs. I respect him but I dont follow him his ideas are for averga epeople doing average things. If you want to be really wealthy do not take this guys advice because its not for you.

    • @Youarenotthatguypal_lol says:

he literally said looking back on it he would’ve raised the prices if he was more mature, you’re a weirdo who wants people to lose money for you to feel good about yourself.

    • @Hiesenberg24-7 says:

Yeah no. He understood that his following would’ve turned against him.

This dude damn near has a motto of “I don’t ever buy coffee, I make it at home to save money”

If he sells coffee more expensive than everyone else. That’s the clearest example in human history of selling out. Considering no one is buying his coffee because of the taste, they buy it because they like him. He needs to stay in the good graces of his audience

    • @triarii9257 says:

Lol selling out implies you’re making a profit. Raising prices to survive is not the same as raising prices for more profit. Come on man, if you watch his show, you should know more about finances than that.

  • @stephen2224 says:

Never trust anyone who pretend they sold at cost

  • @badfriends5206 says:

Because Peet’s sucks. Invest in your coffee instead of using a co-packer’s generic medium-dark roast blend, then you could justify charging a higher price.

  • @salusa_secundus says:

If you compete in price you will be perceived as a “non-quality” product.

  • @johnnaybor9367 says:

its called a loss leader its a pretty common pivoting marketing strategy for a company with a lot of traction on popular product and usually when people say they are taking a loss on something its a technical loss not a literal loss which means the margins are just to small to self sustain not that they are actually losing money that being said not always the case.

  • @FarazSyed-ke2cv says:

Just add the word organic and increase the price

  • @bogdankapusta6336 says:

you can’t buy peets at 8.99 any more…

  • @ZVtree says:

Graham people would buy your coffee because it’s the cheapest in the market, they would buy your coffee because they need coffee and want to support a good brand. If $9.99 was break even, raise it 20% to $11.99 and make a 20% margin if you feel guilty about price. But the reality is most of your supporters would be happy to pay $14.99

  • @nate.99555 says:

You also talked thousands of people to put their money into a gambling site making them believe it was a high yield savings/winnings…

  • @Scottyv12 says:

I like that he still has morals while doing business. He has a multi-million dollar real estate portfolio, but doesn’t raise rent on current tenants. Shows that you can treat people right and still turn a profit.

  • @BearBear2020 says:

    At least you tried!❤

  • @Trilluminati713 says:

Is that Kong from Simple Pickup?? 💀

  • @TheCaliGamerTCG says:

See other people in finance think about how they can completely boost sales, Graham tho, he’s been preaching about it’s 90¢ coffee for years, and he’s always been one for people to spend less and save more so it goes against him personally to raise the price of his own coffee

  • @DuhKoreStudio says:

    Tires mentality😂

  • @ClearChoiceMethodology says:

Your problem is comparing yourself to others and only choosing one marketing outlet. You would have lost some customers but probably not even half. Then you have more time to reorganize your brand. The economy would have caught up with the price and your price would eventually look good again while still making profit AND selling accessories which you could have kept adding to. Sometimes the ugly decisions are the most important decisions. I would have easily sold it for $12.99. You’re buying yourself time is what you’re really doing. That’s more valuable than money IMO and you still would have profited. It’s a no brainer.
