pov: you are 29 and millionaire
Here’s a list of what actually mattered.
1. Believing that everything is my fault aka “in my control”. This brain hack is called having an “internal locus of control” and it’s how I trick myself into taking action even when I’m scared. If everything is my fault/in my control, my actions can make it better.
2. Decide what you’ll give up. I traded music on flights for audiobooks/podcasts. Steal time from low-ROI habits and invest it in skills.
3. Beware of shiny objects. Pick a focus and stick with it long enough to get undeniably good. It’s hard to imagine that if you do something long enough, you’ll still be bad at it. Most people give up and start something new too quickly.
4. Clarity beats motivation. Use “motivated you” to build a plan; “un-motivated” you just follows that plan.
5. Don’t oversell, especially if you’re early in your journey. It’s way better to under-promise and over-deliver, collect testimonials, and slowly improve.
