Yeah, let’s not work to fix the problems. Let’s just move the goal posts and make renting sound like a good idea. People don’t need to own anything just rent from the owner class forever
But that’s not what he’s talking about. So much of people’s comments are just missing the point entirely. It’s a simple equation of whether it’s more cost effective to own vs rent right now. If you think it’s worth the extra cost, go ahead. This was not about whether or not the housing market SHOULD be like this.
@bobbilly87I get exactly what he’s saying. I’m pointing out that normalizing, that promoting it like it’s a good thing is bad.
@a@arcticnerd5994t not everything is a promotion of something. The reality of the situation is as he says. In fact, if the reality of ownership is that it will cost more than renting and will be a worse financial decision, not vocalizing that is promoting bad financial decisions instead of simply reflecting the facts. It’s like telling everyone to get a college degree because education is good but not breaking down the ROI. Make the value judgement based on reality, not just what feels good.
You will own nothing and be happy
Where is this from?
@santiagoromo6776Klaus Schwab, head (ex-head now?) of the WEF
Just buy $nothing
Grant, you’re forgetting about amortization
Not all of us are single with no kids.
You’re proof we are regressing. Use the calculator, it has an option for that
@fanboiahoy260 not talking about stupid calculator which is over 10 years old. I’m talking about his idiotic comment about renting rooms.
No one made u have kids get ur finances together first 😭
@carter116mine are. Thanks. Way to assume
just because its cheaper today doesn’t mean a mortgage payment today will be cheaper than renting in 4 years
you hear that? a landlord telling you to rent 😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Exactly, this must be AI.
You can literally do the math yourself lmao. You would think that someone who owns homes would know the challenges that come with ownership…
@bobbilly87nah you are actually a sped if you believe this. Most places in u.s. you’d literally break even within 7-10 years. People need to look outside NY and CALI 🤣
I think you might have brain damage buddy. If that’s how the math works out for the area and property you are looking at, great. Again, I said you can do the math yourself, not that he’s right and that this applies to every location in the US. NYC, Cali, and a lot of other major cities is where a majority of people live. Y’all say this like people are gonna be dying to move to Idaho for cheap housing lmao.
Because owning a home for personal use is a liability.
Owning a home to rent out for passive income is an asset.
He’s saying for the average person living off a salary its going to cost you more to own a home than to rent for years before it starts saving you money.
My wife and kids are not fans of me getting roommates.
You can rent out like a spare room which can largely cover the interest rate especially in Switzerland where interest rate is low but rent high
what a shock a landlord telling you renting is better. everytime i see a clip of this dude i can’t help but think of what a tool he is.
He sold his rentals and he’s right here home prices are insanity. Why buy a crap box that won’t appreciate for decades and only deplete all funds with taxes, insurance, and maintenance. Better to rent a small apt.
@AlexS-k7ya small apartment costs a lot these days and the prices go up each year. Not stable long term
Because landlords bought that property at a lower price and low 3% interest. So renting is cheaper in that sense compare to you buying at a high price and high interest.
@HHH_3 I agree in big cities they are not cheap. I guess then people have to head midwest to places Mississippi, Louisiana, Missouri, Alabama, Arkansas etc… to buy a house for 200k or less.
I didn’t know I could sell my rented apt
That is the definition of opportunity
Also owning is like renting anyway with how high property taxes are. We never truly own the home.
Living with roommates is absolutely the move.
I’m in college and if my boys stay together and don’t all get married; we’ll be renting a nice house for dirt cheap compared to single bedroom units.
It’s the same as home ownership with a 50 year mortgage 😂
Spoken like a true landlord
Families NEED to be closer together
Dude looking for renters
My periods of highest misery in life were when I was a homeowner.
Living with strangers is awful feeling and just weird
Family of 4 needing a roommate that also comes with their spouse and kids don’t make much sense to me
