Looked at a two bedroom for rent in ok area, 2700$
You need to make a gross income of about $120k to afford the median house woth 20% down. This isn’t a student loan issue, it’s a cost of living issue. Wages are too low.
It’s not a cost of living issue it’s a home price issue.
The economics have changed is an understatement student loans may be one issue but it’s far from the reason houses are unaffordable
Student loans are out of control but I’m glad he also mentioned that last part.
We need more owner-occupied starter homes (no investors) and first time home buyers need to lower their expectations.
The house the younger generation grew up in is also not the house their parents grew up in. Some starter homes today would pass for a mansion in the 70 and 80s.
